Interview: Opera Noire

Kürzlich hatte ich die Gelegenheit, mit der italienischen Goth’n Roll-Formation Opera Noire ein Interview zu führen – here it is. :-)

BlackLive.de: What does music – and producing music – mean to you?
Opera Noire: It would be easy to tell you that music is all for us, but we can’t really separate it from our lifes.
About to produce music, for us it’s really important to try to produce it in the best way we can, ’cause we are our music.

Individually, which types of music do you listen to? Which are your favourite bands?
Wylliam: David Bowie, Iggy Pop
Fabio: David Bowie, Sisters of Mercy, Steve Harley, Klaus Nomi
Marco: B.Idol, 69 Eyes, The Cult, Black Sabbath, Sisters of Mercy
Matteo: Opeth, Muse, Opera Noire
Enrico: Opeth, Novembre, Dream Theater, Muse, Depeche Mode

Where do you see Opera Noire in five years?
Hopefully around the world to play our music.

Your plans and aims for 2009?
Fortunately we meet this year Elfi, and her agency (loud’n proud) , she organized the tour in Germany, this year we will start with this tour, then we will back in Germany in September at the “NCN-Festival” in Deutzen (Leipzig) in Germany, than in Austria and hopefully on some other places in Europe.

And we are realizing at the moment our second Album, probably is ready for April.
So it’s a nice and promising year for us.

Which one has been the most stunning moment of your band history so far? And which concert did you like most?
We liked all gigs we made… every one was so special, probably the most important one was in Pordenone in the North-West of Italy, before the releasing of our first cd “Bad Intent” cause in this gig people starting to ask us for “sign”. It was a surprizing and lovely thing in the same time.

Have you ever been to Germany before or will it be the first time during your tour?
We have never been there before, no one of us, but we are honoured to come and compare ourself with one of the most important music places!

How do you prepare yourselves for a gig? What do you do in the hour before you enter the stage?
We spent our time for make-up and nothing particulary and to prepare ourselves right. It’s almost natural.

Which quirks do you have? ;-)
Quirks? Sorry but we can’t understand the meaning of this word.

How do you see the development of your music over the last years?
We are always on searching for the music which better shows ourselves, we can’t stay in a “definition” as goth as metal as dark. We grow as person, our music grows with us.

Since when did you know that you wanted to be musicians?
Wylliam: Since my mom bought for me my first guitar.
Fabio:
I studied a lot of years classical music, but I didn’t thought that would be my world, I start thinking about this when I meet Wylliam.
Marco:
I was always in minor bands, but when I met Opera Noire I started to think to be a professional musician.
Enrico: I’m still studying music, and at the same time I am a drum teacher, so that’s my world.
Matteo: I’m starting to think it right now!

And finally a question that concerns most newer, upcoming bands: how do you finance Opera Noire?

We are realizing some money from our sold first Album “Bad Intent” and we can count on Live-Shows-Entrys.
We know it’s hard to find someone who will finance Bands, it’s easy to find someone who asks money to a band.
And for an incoming band it’s really hard. But if someone is really valid at the end they will emerge!

Thanks a lot for the interview… kind regards and have a dark weekend! :-)
Thank you!
